Portraits of Stephane

April 27th, 2008

Stephane Jobert contacted me to make some portraits in order to integrate them into its new site that is currently in preparation, we briefly discussed his expectations in terms of image, I usually prefer to meet people before taking a decision of view, this first contact is very important to me, it is always difficult to make good pictures when the current does not pass, the picture is for me a real exchange between the photographer and his model, if the exchange is not now it shows in the picture.

"Thirty years, the host, producer and voiceover has fifteen years of radio and television behind him. In 1988 he settled on the island of Reunion, where he joined various stations. In 1995 he moved to the screen on RFO. In 2000, he has every night live "Maxi-Muzik" and "Duel of clips." He co-hosts as many nights event ("Grammy Awards"). It performs well in a feat Eve to take 6 hours of direct. TF1 and hiring for "Tac O Tac TV" where he remained two years. His television news: towards Belgium, where twice a week he plays the famous "Loto" which 28 years was served by a single voice. Since 2004, he combines the entertainment: Radio France, M6 Boutique, and recently the M6 on Saturday morning "It is urgent to please"

The goal was to have images, bright, colorful, fresh, "smiling outside," (a TV host who draws the mouth it goes well, and having spent the afternoon with Stephen that smile is the well).

The light was plentiful and beautifully aired which allowed me to stay a comfortable 1 / 125 to 100 iso, I used two goals for these shots, the 50mm and 85 mm, both as a 1.6 with d usual spot metering on the face with a compensation of +0.7.

. The grand opening allowed me to get a blurred background rather homogeneous, to enrich the background a bit I turned on the bedside lamp which gives me a nice mix of temperatures.

It has also benefited from the interior of the hotel to do some shooting, working in natural light offers the advantage of direct visualization of the résulat the naked eye without regard to technical constraints.

flash ( un SB 800 réfléchit sur un parapluie ) mais je suis peu convaincu de ces prises. We tried a few photos in a subway station with a graph in the background and lighting 100% flash (an SB 800 reflects on an umbrella) but I am not convinced of these jacks.

As usual I have treated my RAW with Capture One, with adjustable contrast, white balance and saturation with export in sRGB for display on the site.

nous avions en tête en terme d'image. In the end I'm pretty satisfied with this session, Stephane was really cool and it shows in the images, photographically speaking, it is very clean and very true to what we had in mind in terms of image. I personally remember this picture for its authentic side.

I like, I always had a soft spot for pictures in natural light and openness.

As against the last two do not fit I think, they are not in the same spirit as the rest of the series and then the last is too desaturated compared to the previous one.

PS: I feels to change my Nikon 50mm f1.8 f1.4 in, it's worth it or not because you think I would win even a little PDC knowing that I shut mine at least 2.2 for either proper level dive.

    Good evening David,

Quite agree with you, I indicated in my post :)

For objot yes it's worth, I always close to 1.6 ;)

    Superb series as usual.
Fresh and "clean" as you say.
    Handsome and more ...
I like ones with graffiti, finally, is not the last ch, I find it too desaturated for my taste.
    Once again, good job!

Very good rendering :) Another good series.
Not too hard to manage the white shirt?
Natural light offers great result is not to say, my last series was outside, and it is true that with the artificial lighting level, it never happens at this level. This adds a warmth to the images.
    See you soon

  8. Sophie Says:

    very nice set.
    The rendering is beautiful.
Photos with graffiti can be no sticking with the rest but I think the last but is fine. I would like to see the picture with a little more color to the last.

    Hi Ben,

The 10 is not uninteresting, damage to the thumb protrudes guache, and the shadow on the right nostril, otherwise it is clean and well wishes.

A bit of variation on this is not bad, although the opposite!

I would eliminate the 7, severed arm, random digit dialing ...

The four, Stephane interesting attitude ...

    5 I like the good, and reminds me of your final choice, not a désquilibré;

The 2 is clean and relatively well made ...

    Beautiful light, pretty colors ...

The photos of the group are very clean, good framing in general.

    A + + +
