Humor bourgeois tripod
February 4th, 2008

It's been a while almost one month that I have not posted news several reasons, a time of crap for someone who enjoys working with natural light, much work in my job official brief yet I continue to I learn a lot but produces little images that I think is of interest to be shared.
The picture is becoming more present in my day job (webmachin for a financial institution) I am now more and more portraits, covers conferences, images "corporate" experience is very rewarding but for copyright reasons I can not yet publish these images on my blog (which is understandable).
I want to thank everyone who contributed to the site through their comments, encouragement by mail or via the comments, site level stats now generates about 1,200 visitors per day.
Saturday night I went to the follies of middle-class to make the picture a little "people" so basically people smiling in artificial light, since this kind of picture is quite agreed I will not post a whole series on the subject I first tried the 85 1.4 to do some portraits of early evening, clearly the focal length is not suitable for such use, but when the evening was put in place that can take pictures of one or two subjects rather graphic has provided care for his background.
The bokeh wide open is a really superb! well of course we must explain to the group of six people that "no it will not be possible to take a picture right away that we must first change lenses, and yes their compact device allows them to him he 6 people take a photo without changing the objective

I also made some slow exposures with my new tripod, I finally decided to buy a real tripod (my tripod hama is nice for a compact but not at all suited to the D200 with a lens and grip) my camera dealer I have long praised the Gitzo carbon, and then explain a little to heart that he cons of beautiful Chinese copies of the mark Digipod.

Having used a Gitzo the Digipod for me as good and the price is halved, ensuring it is always two years. For the head I invested in a ball ball / joystick which had me in manfrotto already convinced loan, the principle is simple enough: it moves its gripper frame, releasing the head is blocked

Some images taken at night with the D200 mounted on Digipod

Yeaaapa! Photos
Owls as usual.
I susi impressed by the "no" sound of your photos. When I go out conditions "ideal" I have a sound not possible with my D200 ..
the last 2 nights m'épattent much!

Hi Ben
it must be fun to see her a passionate hobby to take up a non-negligible in its work
In terms of time, I think we all pretty much the same problem ...
On the other hand did not you made a mistake on your number of visitors each month (1200? Miss a zero? ...)
The pictures are very nice and as you say the bokeh is fabulous, and I do not know how you turned to ISO but these colors have high sensitivity is still very strong.
On the night photos, I had already seen, is something that shocks me in the water, it seems as though some sort of deadline by which there in no flowage, and after which he there is ... I gotta stop the Granadian is not it?
Go good continuation and see you soon

hello Ben
I always a fan. What light, what colors! Bravo.
Well, it must still find something. I'm starting:
2 to 1 PEIT flash light shall have been qulques erase shadows on the face
3 - I'm not a fan of this type of tight framing (but Me)
4 - landscapes: I think the 2 stands out compared to two other
... Thank you for these photos. Vivements next BenB!
Fred
PS: What is your advice as you flash diffuser? I saw your article on shooting nightclub. You'll allude to three types of broadcasters. After the experiment, which guards you? Thank you
Fred

If you work with a tripod, you can afford to work with ISO lower, right? "
Beautiful pictures, as always. I particularly like the bright colors in the first.
The pictures are fantastic scenery at night. Well done!

But I do not think that the portraits are done by asking the tripod models not move or breathe while laying 1s ISO 100

Beautiful photos of nights. I still love to see the light, however small it may be, is raised once again in darkness. It's magic!

dephine I wonder quite often "blame" in terms of noise on the D200, it is true that the D300 and the D3 especially made giant leaps in the management of noise, but for me the noise of the D200 is was acceptable.
Now I must say I have a hard time understanding people that compare in 200% crops in photoshop for me if it goes well on a 20x30 or a Web format is any good, I do not look at my pictures in photoshop
ksh: Yes clearly it pleases and it allows me to learn a lot. Indeed I was mistaken for the number of visitors, 1200 is the average number per day
For images the EXIF in the photos but I am generally quite low in isos isos between 100 and 400 for night shots, it's just patches of ice!
Fred: Yes quite! One thing to know, for the long exposure after a certain time the heating of the sensor will create noise and this even at 100 iso.
Oli: Thanks!

Could you tell us what model Digipod foot ball and what you have chosen in Manfrotto?
Beautiful photos anyway! Bravo

I recently learned that the absence of noise on the D3 and D200 in RAW files is due to an anti-noise algorithm applied upstream of the RAW file.
Basically, the RAW file created by the device is not a true RAW file, but a RAW file filtered!
So a little marketing scam to say: you see, the bcp D3/D300 is less noisy than the D200!

Your portraits are superb! What you'd like lighting? Because of the mood lighting?
February 4th, 2008 at 11:56
Fred: For your comment I'm pretty okay, now it is more pictures of reporting at the time that lights worked and raised
As flash diffuser I am 100% satisfied with the outcome of the diffuser Lambency but in this case it is too bulky so I contented diffuser classic SB800
Phil: The head is a Manfrotto 322RC2 ball joystick, for Digipod I can not find the reference yet

Iznogoud: It is very possible, but having seen samples of D3 in very high sensitivity of noise that work be done prior to me did not pose a problem, what matters to me (and I do not think the only ) is to have images for use and not very noisy, which still retain a good level of detail.
Spica: just the ambient lighting for the background and a flash for the subject
