Remote control for D200

October 25th, 2007

Nikond200remote

For the realization of some pictures I was looking for a remote trigger compatible with the D200, the D70 things were quite simple the D200 has an infrared sensor, a small infrared remote control nikon (ML-L3 basically a small box with a button) cost 30 euros. The remote control offers the development and triggering.

With the D200 prices soar, the wired remote MC-36 is around the 225 euros, and the infrared remote control ML-3 (range 8 meters) is trading has more than 240 euros, two remotes connect all two on the remote 10-pin socket in the front of the case.

These rates are for me estuaries, these remote controls offer advanced features that are useless for me (but that may be useful to other people) basically I was looking for something that triggers a distance but by radio waves (infrared application has to be directional and its scope is limited), with the function of development has run, and can handle the installation slowly (Bulb).

I found my happiness on ebay for 30 euros including postage, there is a pretty remote Phottix brand, comes with batteries, it allows the development has been running, and rafalle bulb and the whole into radio waves with a range of 100 meters of 16 bands.

The receiver plugs into the remote box (it is compatible with all Nikon cameras with the 10-pin socket, a Canon model is also available (F5, D2x, F90 ...).

Delivery level, the remote was commissioned on October 16, shipped from Singapore on 17 and delivered to me on October 24, all ships, two small pictures to illustrate, receiver, remote control and box ...

Ben thank you for the info, just did what I was looking for! that the receiver is not fixed is not an issue?

ps: quick question by the way, how did you do for lighting of the last image?

  2. Benjamin | Photobie Says:

Simon Good evening, not really, if necessary, for the gaffer bulb is still in my camera bag :)

For the last image is a slow 10-second installation, the case is facing the mirror, the background is lit by an orange light and a red light and lead the box I used the light from my gsm passing repeatedly the case during the expo. I was looking for was not done in the art but I like the colored backgrounds ;)

  3. MickymX Says:

Not bad that. I was looking for a remote, I just find it in Phottix on ebay for my 350D. Not excessive and radio. Thank you for the tip ;)

Following this article, I received an email from the importer of remote controls, they will be present at the next PMA in Las Vegas and should have new models available

  5. Olivier Says:

    Hello hello,

did you tested the door of this remote?

    Friendly

    Olive

  6. Benjamin | Photobie Says:

I tested about 25 meters and it works very well, apparently the range is 100 meters (which may be useful for the animal) and it passes through the walls :)

  7. JRambaud Says:

    Received, tested, it works ...
Just missing a addaptateur for shoe, it could TROUBLESHOOTING (along with it to tinker something like that ...).
    Thank you for the tip.

  8. Benjamin | Photobie Says:

    JRambaud,

I quite agree to the shoe, to hook the receiver would be a plus (for photos that do not require flash, I have a carcass of an old flash I will fiddle with something : Smile:

  9. Wagg Says:

Received yesterday, tested D300, it worked on.
I disconnected to store the whole, and this morning I reconnected, it did more.
When I run the command, the orders are received on the receiver, we can see the LED flash but no reaction on the device.
I have checked the setting, but without success.
The only thing I can discern is that the small pin of the plug are not all exactly the same length.

With you an idea of what is happening to me? : Evil:

  10. Benjamin | Photobie Says:

    Lantern,

No idea, I use mine regularly without ever having had any problems :)

  11. Bertrand Says:

Small matter of ignorant but hey, I've never used this optiion ... How Can I make the development without the eye in the viewfinder? : Oops:

  12. Wagg Says:

My problem is solved in the meantime, it works now, and I still do not know the reason for the failure.
Regarding the development in principle before you settled in distance, you perform your first conventionally referred, and then, if the subject has not moved in line with your target spot but simply in-depth example , then no problem referred to recalibrate your remote. It also depends if you program in your target spot, or otherwise.

  13. Bertrand Says:

Lampion thank you. The difficulty is therefore that in the self-portrait ... I finally ordered this toy Me : Grin:

  14. Bullet Says:

    Hi,

I just found your blog by chance and you give me a really good plan. I really did not want to spend that much for a tune remote, nikon should calm down on their prices.

    Thanks a lot : Mrgreen:

  15. stephane Says:

    Hello the company,

On the bulb, you have an option allowing you to not support all the time of installation (for a star spun it can hurt the thumb after a while)?

Thank you for sharing your experiences.

  16. Benjamin | Photobie Says:

    Stephen,

The bulb is pressing the button to open the shutter, another pressure to close, so do not keep the button pressed : Lol:

  17. stephane Says:

    Thank you Benjamin

Good week ... and hope to read you soon.

  18. Rock Says:

  23. Poppe Vincent Says:

    Hi Benjamin,

It's been a while since I am your blog.

Thank you for the (s) super (s) pipe (s) and your passion brings you to offer us such beautiful pictures!

    'm A fan!

  24. JRambaud Says:

The same remote I dropped because of a bad contact in the cable it seems. But at that price, the object is almost considered "disposable" ...
So I ordered another, with almost the same references, always Phottix.
Surprises, a new contact or false workmanship, that when the receiver is connected to the device, the equivalent of the command "button halfway pressed" activate ... it's embarrassing ... (and this even without battery ...)
    : Oops:

  25. benjamin ziegler Says:

    Hi,

It is still compatible with the D3?
    Thank you

  26. Ben | Photobie Says:

    Quite :)

  27. Natasha L. Says:

I wonder if this remote is compatible for my pitit D3100?

    Thank you!

    Natacha.
