Remote control for D200

October 25th, 2007

Nikond200remote

For the realization of some pictures I was looking for a remote trigger compatible with the D200, the D70 things were fairly simple the D200 has an infrared sensor, a small infrared remote control nikon (ML-L3 basically a small box with a button) cost 30 euros. The remote control offers the development and triggering.

With the D200 prices soar, the Remote Cord MC-36 is around the 225 euros, and the infrared remote control ML-3 (range 8 meters) is trading it has more than 240 euros, two remotes connect all two of the 10-pin remote socket at the front of the box.

These rates are for me aberants, the remote controls offer advanced features that are useless for me (but that may be useful to other people) basically I was looking for something that triggers a distance but rather by radio waves (infrared application has to be directional and limited in reach), with the function of development has run, and who can handle the installation slow (Bulb).

I found my happiness on ebay for 30 euros including postage, there is a pretty remote from Phottix brand, comes with batteries, it enables the development has been running, and rafalle the bulb and the whole into radio waves with a range of 100 meters of 16 bands.

The receiver plugs into the remote box (it is compatible with all Nikon with the 10-pin, a Canon model is also available (F5, D2x, F90 ...).

Delivery level, the remote was commissioned on October 16, shipped from Singapore on 17 and delivered to me on October 24, all ships, two small pictures to illustrate, receiver, remote and box ...

Ben thank you for the info, just did what I was looking for! that the receiver is not fixed is not an issue?

ps: quick question by the way, how did you do for lighting of the last image?

  2. Benjamin | photob Says:

Good evening Simon, not Verily, if necessary, for long exposures the gaffer is always in my camera bag :)

For the last image is a slow 10-second installation, the box is facing the mirror, the background is lit by an orange light and a red light and lead to the box I used the light from my gsm is passing on the case several times during the fair. I tried not to do in the arts but I like the colored backgrounds ;)

  3. MickymX Says:

  5. Olivier Says:

    Hello hello,

could you test the scope of the present remote control?

    Regards

    Olive

  6. Benjamin | photob Says:

I tested about 25 meters and it works very well, apparently the range is 100 meters (which may be useful for the animal) and it passes through walls :)

  7. JRambaud Says:

    Received, tested, it works ...
Just lacks a hot shoe for addaptateur, it could TROUBLESHOOTING (at the same time it is tinkering or something ...).
    Thank you for the tip.

  8. Benjamin | photob Says:

    JRambaud,

I quite agree to the hot shoe, hang the receiver would be a plus (for photos that do not require flash, I have a carcass of an old flash I bricolerais something : Smile:

  9. Lantern Says:

Received yesterday, tested with D300, it worked on.
I disconnected for the entire store, and this morning I reconnect, it does work anymore.
When I run the command, orders are goods received at the receiver, we can see the LED flash but no reaction on the device.
I have checked the setting, but without success.
The only thing I can discern is that the small plug pins are not all exactly the same length.

With you an idea of what is happening to me? : Evil:

  10. Benjamin | photob Says:

    Wagg,

No idea, I use mine regularly but never had any problems :)

  11. Bertrand Says:

Question of ignoring small but well, I never used this optiion ... How Can I make the development without the eye in the viewfinder? : Oops:

  12. Lantern Says:

My problem is solved in the meantime, his works now, and I still do not know the reason for the failure.
Regarding the development in principle before you install Remote, you made your first referred conventionnelement, and then, if the subject has not moved in line with your target spot but simply depth example , then no problem referred to recalibrate your remote. it also depends if you program in your target spot, or otherwise.

  13. Bertrand Says:

Lampion thank you. The difficulty is therefore that in the self-portrait ... I will finally order this plaything me : Grin:

  14. Bullette Says:

    Hello,

I just found your blog by chance and you give me a really good plan. I really did not expend as much tune to a remote, nikon should calm down on their prices.

    Thanks a lot : Mrgreen:

  15. stephane Says:

    Hello the company,

On the bulb, you have an option allowing you to not support all the time of installation (for a star spun it can hurt the thumb after a while)?

Thank you for sharing your experiences.

  16. Benjamin | photob Says:

    stephane,

The bulb is pressing the button to open the shutter, another pressure to close, so do not hold the button : Lol:

  17. stephane Says:

    Thank you Benjamin

Good week ... and hope to read you soon.

  23. Poppe Vincent Says:

    Hello Benjamin,

It's been a while since I'm your blog.

Thank you for the (s) super (s) pipe (s) for your passion and brings you to offer us such beautiful pictures!

    'm A fan!

  24. JRambaud Says:

This same remote dropped me because of a poor contact in the cable it seems. But at this price point, the object is almost considered "disposable" ...
So I ordered another, with almost the same references, always Phottix.
Unpleasant surprise, a new loose contact or manufacturing defect, that when the receiver is plugged into the unit, the equivalent of the command "button halfway pressed" is active ... this is embarrassing ... (and even without battery ...)
    : Oops:

  25. benjamin ziegler Says:

    Hello,

It is always compatible with the D3?
    Thank you

  26. Ben | photob Says:

    Quite :)

  27. Natasha L. Says:

    Thank you!

    Natasha.
