Remote control for D200

October 25th, 2007

Nikond200remote

To carry out some pictures I was looking for a remote release compatible with the D200, the D70 were fairly simple things the D200 has an infrared sensor, a small infrared remote control nikon (ML-L3 basically a little box with a button) cost 30 euros. The remote offers the development and activation.

With the D200 prices soar, the wired remote MC-36 is around 225 euros, and the infrared remote ML-3 (range 8 meters) she is trading more than 240 euros, these two remote connect all two on the remote 10-pin socket at the front of the box.

These rates are for me Abera, these remotes offer advanced features that are useless for me (but that may be useful to other people) basically I was looking for something that triggers a distance but rather at radio wavelengths (infrared application has to be directional and its scope is limited), with the function of development has been running, and is able to manage the installation slow (Bulb).

I found it on ebay for 30 euros including postage, there is a pretty remote Phottix brand, comes with batteries, it enables the development has been running, and rafalle bulb and the whole at radio wavelengths with a range of 100 yards on 16 bands.

The receiver plugs into the remote box (it is therefore compatible with all Nikon have taken the 10-pin, a Canon model is also available (F5, D2x, F90 ...).

Level delivery, the remote has been commissioned on October 16, shipped from Singapore on 17 and delivered to me on October 24, everything is delivered, two small pictures to illustrate, receiver, remote and box ...

Ben thank you for info, guess what I was looking for! the fact that the receiver is not fixed is not a problem?

ps: small issue by the way, how did you do for lighting in the last picture?

  2. Benjamin | photob Says:

Hello Simon, not exactly, if necessary, for a long exposure the gaffer is still in my camera bag :)

For the last image, it poses a slow 10 seconds, the box is facing the mirror, the background is lit by an orange light and a red light and to lead the box I used the light from my gsm passing several recovery on the case during the expo. I tried not to do in the arts, but I like the colored backgrounds ;)

  3. MickymX Says:

Not bad that. I was looking for a remote, I just found in Phottix on Ebay for my 350D. Not excessive and radio. Thank you for the tip ;)

Next to this article, I received an email from the importer of these remotes, they will be present at the next PMA Las Vegas and should have new models available

  5. Olivier Says:

    Hello hello

did you tested the range of this remote?

    Regards

    Olive

  6. Benjamin | photob Says:

I have tested about 25 meters and it works very well, Appears To reach is 100 meters (which may be useful for the animal) and that passes through walls :)

  7. JRambaud Says:

    Received, tested, it works ...
Lack addaptateur for just a hot shoe, it might help (the same time it is tinkering something like that ...).
    Thank you for the tip.

  8. Benjamin | photob Says:

    JRambaud,

I quite agree accessory shoe, the receiver would be able to hang one more (the pictures do not need flash, I have a carcass of an old fiddle I flash something : Smile:

  9. Lampion Says:

Received yesterday, tested D300 AC walked away.
I disconnected store for all, and this morning I reconnected, that will not work anymore.
When I run the command, the orders are well received on the receiver, we can see the LEDs flash, but no reaction to the device.
I have checked the setting, but without success.
The only thing I can discern, is that the small plug pins are not all exactly the same length.

With you an idea of what's happening? : Evil:

  10. Benjamin | photob Says:

    Lantern,

No idea, I use mine quite regularly but never had the slightest problem :)

  11. Bertrand Says:

Small question ignorant but hey, I've never used this optiion ... How Can I make the development without the eye in the viewfinder? : Oops:

  12. Lampion Says:

My problem is solved in the meantime, its working now, and I still do not know the reason for the failure.
Regarding the development in principle, before you settled in distance, makes you referred your first mainstream, and second, whether the subject has not moved in line with your spot, but simply referred in-depth example , then no problem referred to recalibrate your remote. it depends also if you referred in your program spot or another.

  13. Bertrand Says:

Thank you Lampion. The difficulty is therefore that in the self-portrait finally ... I will order this little toy I : Grin:

  14. Bullet Says:

    Hello,

I just found your blog by chance and you give me a really good plan. I really did not spend much tune for a remote, nikon should calm down on their price.

    Thanks a lot : Mrgreen:

  15. stephane Says:

    Hello the company,

Concerning the bulb, you have an option allowing you to not support throughout the time of installation (for a spun out of it can hurt to an inch after a while)?

Thank you for sharing your experiences.

  16. Benjamin | photob Says:

    stephane,

The bulb is pressing the button to open the obtuse, another pressure to close it, so do not hold the button : Lol:

  17. stephane Says:

    Thank you Benjamin

Good week ... and hope to see you soon.

  18. Rock Says:

  23. Vincent Poppe Says:

    Hello Benjamin

This is a moment that I am your blog.

Thank you for the (s) super (s) pipe (s) and your love brings you to offer us such beautiful pictures!

    'm A fan!

  24. JRambaud Says:

This remote even got dropped because of a loose connection in the cable it seems. But at this price, the object is almost considered "disposable" ...
So I ordered another, with almost the same references, always phottix.
Bad surprise, another false contact or manufacturing defect, is that when the receiver is plugged into the device, the equivalent of the command button half-pressed "is activated ... it's embarrassing ... (and this same without battery ...)
    : Oops:

  25. ziegler benjamin Says:

    Hello,

She is still compatible with the D3?
    Thank you

  26. Ben | photob Says:

    Quite :)
