Portrait of Lara, after
August 8th, 2007
We had a scheduled basis to achieve the picture in two parts, the first to learn about each other make some pictures to analyze the results to see if there was agreement on the choice in terms of composition, framing and rendered and then to work on a series knowing what we wanted to achieve.
The first series is really over, as the level of contact that images obtained in the past I was very concentrated on my frames and lots of "stress" techniques. I now trying to get the most out of my collaboration with the person who put me in focusing on words and light.
I stand at 50mm it matches what I was looking for in terms of framing and optical quality, I am able now to see what part the 50 without a look through the viewfinder. This series has been carried out only in 50mm with openings between f1.
4 and f2 more by choice than by technical constraints.
The place had been recommended by Thomas, a former sanatorium dropped very frequently visited by many photographers located 15 minutes from Brussels.

We began by making a few images by taking advantage of acid colors of many graffiti present, the natural light of an overcast day was perfect.
But these images remind me quite a lot of pictures here and the views (including a pretty ugly picture of a number of hunter picture with a naked chick and a pair of boots posing "so sensual ..." before a zoli grafiti, Some images visibly traumatized me ...)
We had wandered in the beautiful place in search of different light, sanitarium provides real environments and temperatures very different light. N / B is quickly become evident, some images have gained strength in retaining the color, but I want to keep a unit in this series. I'll post probably next week some colors to complement this post.
The sanatorium is both very present and large absent from this series, it provided me with beautiful lights, but I finally built very little in my compositions be it via my framing or via my depth of field.
I will try to return this time alone to soak up some more places and return with pictures which I'll be working on future series.
Finally a big thank you to Lara for his patience and availability!

Hi Benjamin,
Another fine series even if I have a preference for one before.
Can I ask you as a result you get B / W such as this, applied by you as a treatment on your image?
Bonne continuation
Roman.

Han but it's too good!
No broadcaster this time?
August 8th, 2007 at 11:20
Really beautiful your B / W, genuine emotion at the picture, you have really escalated over the last set in your management of light
Congratulations!

KSH: Capture One can not get out of NB, so I worked in lightroom and then I exported the images to the web. The record is really in different lights
Mdkart: reflector diffuser is really, in this instance I have left aside not to be general during our travels, I'd have to find someone to wear during sessions or invest in one arm to to fit on my tripod.
Fred: thank you!

Hi Benjamin,
I watched the series with great interest since I am changing the site and your work for several months already.
Already I join the chorus of praise to congratulate you (that's a little classical force: p).
I found your last two series much better ones. the use of light is excellent, the lack of "systematic penchage" as I saw it on HFR.
Anyway as you explained so well you master the technique without any problem, we can just enjoy the quality of your pictures and see the evolution of style.
By cons I have just one question, you had tested lightroom I think you've worked out on Capture NX on your last picture, you left Lightroom? I felt that lightroom treatment applied to the image of the transfer to the software without user intervention (?), I guess it was not suitable for you?
Anyway bravo series is really the most complete I think

Thank you Fab
Capture NX (edited by Nikon) I refuse to touch it, it is impressive in terms of image quality crude, but it's much too slow and too intuitive to me. The previous series (in color) was derawatisée in Capture One (Published by Phase One) Capture One does not yet make B / W, so I did my B / W in Lightroom (Adobe) which is powerful but a little too heavy for me, I'll soon change the configuration of PC for a more powerful setup to work more efficiently.
August 8th, 2007 at 3:55
Oops sorry I confused Capture NX and Capture one, mea culpa ... the whole problem of being under Canon, we know too Nikon, even though I was there long Nikon user ^ ^
Thank you for your reply
By cons, for me, I struggled in derawtiser lightroom for my photos, the latter routinely showing the contrast and light. I had a good look in the options, not change it. So I passed under DxO demo, very nice although a little trickier to use initially.
If you want, I'll keep you informed of my various tests?

I am glad that you do a series of N & B with this charming style, as you said it was difficult for the previous issue of substance that does not lend itself to
The result is very good, the place brings beautiful lights and you've taken advantage of all this. Ah if I knew places like Liège
(Surely there must have ...)
To configure your PC and you think Lightroom spend what type of equipment? (currently used by you?)
August 8th, 2007 at 4:12
Fab for the moment I am in LR content of M / B, the rest I would see later (when I have a machine that can take a little more load), does not hesitate to keep me that I remains very faithful to Capture One
Jonathan, thank you for the current config I am with a P4 3.4 gig and 2 gig of ram, I am going to have a quad core xeon with 4 or 8 gigs of ram

If it can help in the search for a foot reflector, it must seek "reflector holder.
I found this example.
I think I will soon invest in a reflector kit 5 in 1 + foot. It costs next to nothing really for the results it gives, especially that I love very diffused light.

excellent Ben, his eyes are beautiful even in NB. And as an architect, the sanatorium is a choice of luxury
But Garre police prowling for squateurs.
yes, lightroom bcp comic, but it remains the best, especially since the update 1.1. I have 4Gb in XP that did only 3 runs ... and I do not want vista. I move to Mac seriously.
I hate to see pictures of your lawn last Saturday, I saw you shoots well GRIMELOCK
next time I come to say goodbye! I was not my D200 ...
August 8th, 2007 at 11:41
Thank you Nix
Pictures of grass are disposed on the site, I am not happy with the masses of images primarily to conditions very difficult (almost no ambient light) if you want to have a look they are

A bientot!
August 9th, 2007 at 3:09
Oh yes you will go to a config rather muscular
There à3 weeks I went from 1gb of ram P42.8 value Aun C2D E6600 2gb of (good) ram and I can already see differences bcp and lightroom is totally usable level speed.
I can just imagine with the configuration that you will do lol
Like Nix veus I do not put vista and 4GB of ram under XP it just lost, I hope to someday go Mac!
Mdkart thank you for the link, I look also what kind of accessories I have a broadcaster that I never use because the person to take

Fab for raising the question: LightRoom aplique actually defaults to the import (s) photo (s). It applies the parameters 'curves tones - defaults LR' found in the development section. To import, simply put parameter development SANS.
Ben> as usual exemplary work ... I'm torn between this and the previous series. The 2 speak to me, I love the light on it ... a lot of Sanatorium. (the one where Lara raises his arm is not very natural at the position against the light that emanates from the left MIAM)

MickymX: For me these two sets are complementary, but it is clear that I have a clear preference in terms of expressions and light to the series of N / B
jean-luc: Thanks for your comments, I have not tested the update but I NX does not catch the ergonomics of the application a bientot!
Sakana: I do not know the exact address but the place is located right next to a nursing home has acacias Tombeek!

I pass regularly on your site youngest, and it is clear that I must stop on the series made with lara pictures every time. Whether the series color or B / W, I am totally a fan!
November 10th, 2007 at 4:21
You have to admit these two series are quite natural, rather they pass out these views ...

"... I would have to find me someone to wear during the meetings ..."
I'm a volunteer!
Two more series sumptuous around Lara, congratulations to you both!

Hello Benjamin.
I just see and read the two articles on this series of portraits on Lara, and many really beautiful. Whether in color or B & W they are really superb. I still prefer to set B & B.
Congratulations
