City Aperos
July 14th, 2007
Last year I contacted Virginia that organizes urban aperitifs in Brussels to create images for them.
The principle is simple appetizers, various places of the capital are laid on for a night, people gather around a glass, the goal: Develop a sense of belonging to his city and encourage people to meet .
This type of event brings together elements that are in my opinion interesting photographically interesting:
People in a spirit of friendliness, a beautiful light (aperitifs are from 17h30 to 23h), interesting spaces offering different lighting scenes, short enough to take good pictures.
I realized the first images he has two weeks as the official photographer for aperitifs, the weather was threatening, very few people, and a very flat light. I took some interesting pictures, but nothing transcendent, a beautiful picture this is primarily a beautiful light.
Tonight the sun was at the rendezvous, the people were very numerous, beautiful light.
Hardware I have adapted to light, the first images were made in 80/200 2.8 for isolating subjects, capturing the emotions flying avoiding the side "intrusive". Since light is less strong I switched to the 50mm 1.4 in my isos in adapting to the brightness, I finished with some pictures in remote flash with exposure time of one second to capture the little light available and avoid the side "cottage cheese on a black background."
Of course in this kind of coverage the photos where everyone is held by the arm with a fixed smile are expected and appreciated, I've tried to be discreet and take what I see without interfering.
I offer here a few portraits from this report produced for the drinks.
The photos were captured in one derawatisées for its speed "with an export performance for the Web to present images, lightroom will be used to narrow the gaps on the bright overview pictures made at wide angle.
All images should be available on the site of urban aperitifs in the coming days.

I have no waste, but as I skim and measure on site, I hate to go with lots of pictures that I must turn thereafter
Otherwise yep, internet and books we learn many things

You do sign a paper to the right of publicity during this kind of shooting?
Because it is a great thing but boring is becoming more and more for photographers.
I love the late night with the wide angle.
Besides if you can make me the opportunity to Councillor on a purchase of flash .. I wish I could buy one for my 350D

Thank you!

For this type of reporting is in my view impossible given the number of people, but every shot I make sure that either before or after triggering the person know that I photographed him and I explains that the images will be available at the event if I feel I erase any doubt or I avoid trigger.

I intended to test it soon
for the colors I add more saturation in Capture One with exports in SRGB
